The Tour Route:
The Prehistoric Tour of the Dordogne region of France takes you on a guided tour of the area to the south east of Périgueux, 130km west of Bordeaux. As you approach each location, a fascinating audio commentary starts automatically on your GPS system.

The tour begins in the town of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil at the National Prehistory Museum and on to the nearby Abri Pataud where you’ll hear all about the remnants of around 40 settlements which were found plus the 20,000 year old remains of a young woman and her newborn baby. Next, the tour takes you to the start of the 12km Prehistory Route where you will hear about the discovery of Cro-Magnon man and then north to the enormous Rouffignac Cave where there are ancient paintings of over 100 mammoths.
The site of Casel Merle has been looked after by the family of archaeologist Marcel Castanet for several generations. Today, you can see numerous examples of prehistoric jewellery which were crafted here from mammoth bone and shells. The Le Thot museum at Thonac includes interactive displays which explore what life was like for the prehistoric communities who settled here and finally, the tour takes you 7km north east to the Lascaux II cave near Montignac.

What Customers are saying about RoadTour...

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that I didn’t know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“I've used the programme a few times now on my travels and it does add a good deal of value to a journey so I'm very happy with my purchase.”
John, UK

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey
