About South Africa - Cape Garden Route

Over 1,000 audio narrations and 15 hours of audio give you a fascinating tour of South Africa’s Cape Garden Route region, as you drive. As you approach Cape Garden Route’s most interesting historical sites and most beautiful locations, your Garmin will automatically start to tell you all about its background, the people involved and the stories associated with it. Each audio-narration has been carefully produced and researched by South Africans with a passion for their country and a profound understanding of its history and landmarks. The commentaries are on average 60 seconds long and you can pause, stop or replay them at any time.

The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa. The route winds its way for some 200 km via George, Wilderness, Sedgefield and Knysna on to Plettenberg Bay and culminating in the Tstisikamma Forest. The route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains and includes one of the most beautiful stretches of South African coastline. The huge indigenous forests are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperate forest and offer hiking trails and eco-tourism activities. Nearly 300 species of birdlife are to be found in a variety of habitats ranging from fynbos to forest to wetlands. The town of George graces a coastal plateau in a fertile area of lush greenery at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, while Oudtshoorn, in the Klein Karoo, is set in a semi-arid valley. Ten nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life.

What Customers are saying about RoadTour...

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that I didn’t know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“I've used the programme a few times now on my travels and it does add a good deal of value to a journey so I'm very happy with my purchase.”
John, UK

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey

“Finding atmospheric pubs with good food is always a challenge when you don't know the area and can be stressful when you're hungry and tired!!”
David, Essex

“Road Tour has found us some great pubs which have made our journeys all the more enjoyable. Every place it's suggested has been a winner.”
Nikki, Cambridgeshire'

“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading

“This is the perfect thing for history buffs - RoadTour really brings boring car journeys to life.”
Guy, London

“It doesn't intrude on the journey it complements it with just enough information if you are not stopping at the attraction.”
