Route 15: Through Fen, Forest & Farmland - 122 Miles.
This is a tour through history and legend, visiting the land of Robin Hood, one of England’s most famous folk heroes. It crosses the edge of the fenland region of Britain, taking in the great ducal estates of Nottinghamshire – Clumber Park, Thoresby Hall and Welbeck Abbey – as well as the ancient woodlands of Sherwood.
Route 16: Fen, Farm & Coast 151 miles
Through flat fields and across the fenland, you are drawn to the magnificence of Ely’s cathedral, then on to
the undulating ground of rural Norfolk. The farming landscape continues to the coast, before ending with lavender and a royal residence.
Route 17: East Anglia’s Churches & Colleges 143 miles
Thatch, stone and brick are major features of the villages in this rural area, but dominating the countryside are the churches and their spires. This gentle landscape, covered with colourful fields of rape in spring and wheat in summer, provided the inspiration for Constable’s paintings and Brooke’s poetry.
Route 18: Cotswold Wool & Stone 99 miles
This is mainly a circuit of Cotswold countryside – a landscape of stone walls surrounding fertile fields and distinctive village architecture. The villages contain many fine churches, but the best known structure is the cross in the centre of Banbury. The family homes of two great men can be seen; one Englishman in Blenheim and one American in Sulgrave.
Route 19: The Rural Heart of England - 128 Miles 128 miles
Across the Severn plain, through a gap in the Malvern Hills and into the Avon valley, this route eventually climbs up on to the hills of the Cotswolds, where stone-built villages have become part of the countryside.
Route 20: Old Volcanoes & Bridges in Shropshire 102 miles
The Welsh border counties are among the greenest parts of Britain. Gentle hills and steep-sided volcanic cones add variety to the scenery. The Severn Valley is the birthplace of the industrial revolution.
What Customers are saying about RoadTour...
“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that
I didn’t
know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK
“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much
that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester
“I've used the programme a few times now on my travels and it does add a good deal of value
to a journey so I'm very happy with my purchase.”
John, UK
“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio
guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey
“Finding atmospheric pubs with good food is always a challenge when you don't know the area and
can be stressful when you're hungry and tired!!”
David, Essex
“Road Tour has found us some great pubs which have made our journeys all the more enjoyable. Every place
it's suggested has been a winner.”
Nikki, Cambridgeshire'
“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover
the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading
“This is the perfect thing for history buffs - RoadTour really brings boring car journeys to life.”
Guy,
London
“It doesn't intrude on the journey it complements it with just enough information if you
