Brodie Castle

“Visitors interested in interior furnishings rather than ruins will enjoy the wealth of art and antiques on display inside Brodie Castle. There are items of French furniture, English, continental and Chinese porcelain, along with a fine collection of paintings. These include 17th century Dutch art, 19th century English water colours, Scottish colourists and some early 20th century pieces. The original castle was built on a ‘Z’ plan in 1567, with two towers set at opposite corners of a rectangular central keep. The benefit of this design was that you could defend the castle along all four walls. During the Civil War in 1645 a fire started by the Royalist army partially destroyed the Brodie. Remodelling started in 1730 and it was further expanded into a fortified tower house in 1824. The castle’s main state rooms cover several floors are open to the public, along with the beautiful castle grounds and unique collection of daffodils. Until 2003 it was possible to take a tour of the castle with Ninian, the 25th Brodie of Brodie. His sad death marked the end of the 800 year association of Brodies with Brodie Castle. ”

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that
I didn’t
know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK
“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much
that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio
guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey

Nikki, Cambridgeshire'
“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover
the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading
