“Romantic poet, William Wordsworth spent the last 43 years of his 80 year life at Rydal. Although and perhaps because, he was more settled, his poems from this period did not meet with the same acclaim as his earlier works. However, he certainly chose an enchanting place in which to make the most of his love of nature. Above the house lie terraces, designed by Wordsworth who was a keen landscape gardener, where he would sit and absorb the beautiful surroundings. From the study, on the top floor of Rydal, visitors can today take in the very same views over the stunning valleys, hills and Lake Windermere beyond. The Wordsworth’s friend Dr Thomas Arnold said of Rydal; "Nowhere on earth have I ever seen a spot of more perfect and enjoyable beauty" Below the house is Dora’s field which is named after Wordsworth’s daughter. Originally, he had planned to build a house on the plot for Dora but after her premature death, he and his wife planted hundreds of daffodils in her memory. This sea of daffodils becomes a carpet of blue in late spring as bluebells take their place. Rydal is now owned by Wordsworth’s ancestors who regularly stay there to this day, so the house retains its homely, lived-in character. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester
