“Although aspects of this attractive mansion house date back to the 1600s, most of Ormesby Hall was built in the 18th century in the Palladian style, based on the architecture of Italian Andrea Palladio. Beyond the simple but grand exterior is a home which is richly decorated with carved wood, ornate plasterwork and furnished with elegant paintings. It is the Pennyman family who are most closely associated with Ormesby, having been based there for over 300 years. Politically, the staunchly Royalist family had a poor start when Robert Pennyman was executed in 1569 following his involvement in the Pilgrimage of Grace. This was a series of Northern rebellions principally protesting at the English break with Rome and the dissolution of the monasteries. It took William Pennyman’s later contribution at the battle of Edgehill and Charles II’s restoration before they were awarded a Baronetcy and respectability. A Victorian laundry, kitchens and scullery can be explored as well as a permanent model railway. A beautiful Georgian stable block with imposing clock tower can be seen from the Hall but are now let to the Cleveland Mounted Police, while one can wander around attractive gardens and a Holly walk. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

Linda, New Jersey
