Magna Science Adventure Centre

“Magna - the first ‘science adventure’ centre in the UK – can be found in the old Templeborough steelworks at Rotherham. This (£46m) Millennium Commission project is 150 feet high and a third of a mile long. There are four pavilions inside the gigantic space for exploring the elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Additionally, there are two extravagant multi-media shows, and a smaller display dedicated to ‘power’. The architects who designed Magna - won the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize for the ‘innovative use of space’ in the old steelworks, and visitors are often as impressed by the building itself as the attractions inside. Here children are offered the opportunity to combine fun with education. For instance, in Air you can spin on a gyroscopic chair and in Fire, you can watch an awe-inspiring five-metre high fire tornado. Earth is to be found in an enormous underground cave, reached by low winding tunnels and alleys, and the Air pavilion floats 100 feet overhead in a 50 foot long ‘zeppelin’. The Water attraction sits inside a huge, steel wave, and the Fire pavilion is a mysterious, charred area surrounded by lightning storms and walls of fire. Two Multimedia shows pay homage to the industrial roots of the building - once the workplace of 10,000 steelworkers - bringing together the sounds, sights and atmosphere that earned Templeborough the nickname, The Anvil of South Yorkshire. ”

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that
I didn’t
know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK
“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much
that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester
“I've used the programme a few times now on my travels and it does add a good deal of value
to a journey so I'm very happy with my purchase.”
John, UK
“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio
guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey
“Finding atmospheric pubs with good food is always a challenge when you don't know the area and

Nikki, Cambridgeshire'
“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover
the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading
“This is the perfect thing for history buffs - RoadTour really brings boring car journeys to life.”
Guy,
