“The moated manor house of Little Moreton Hall is an icon of English Tudor architecture. This handsome black and white building has a Grade I listing, and is arguably the most famous of England’s timber-framed, Tudor country houses. Dating back to 1450, the earliest part of the building is the great hall which, like most of the house, appears to topple precariously over the base. Indeed, the heavy wooden floors, the beams and stone slate roof have put so much strain on the walls over the centuries that the walls have buckled in some places – and it is known affectionately as the ‘crooked house’. In spite of this, the house has survived and changed little for the last 500 years. Little Moreton belonged to the Moretons, a family of landowners, for nearly five centuries. As the family grew in status and wealth, they undertook various extensions creating a series of interlinked buildings around a courtyard. When their fortunes declined following the English Civil War, the Hall was let to tenant farmers, and little or no attempt was made to maintain it until Elizabeth Moreton began to restore it in the 19th century. In 1912, she bequeathed the house to a cousin, Charles Abraham, Bishop of Derby, who continued the preservation effort until 1938, when it was transferred to the National Trust. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
