“A grand Victorian mansion, Holker Hall is poised between Morecambe Bay on the one side, and the Lakeland hills of Cumbria on the other. Here you will find three spectacular attractions in one glorious setting - The Hall, the award-winning gardens, and the Lakeland Motor Museum. This contains a private collection of vintage cars, and auto memorabilia of all kinds. In 1871, the west wing of the house was destroyed by fire. The Duke of Devonshire took the opportunity to hire the best architects in the county to rebuild it in grander style. The present architecture is a fine example of architects Paley and Austin’s outstanding domestic work, and uses rose coloured sandstone to great effect. The present owner, Lord Cavendish, says his ancestors felt that Holker was ‘more desirable, more favoured by Providence, and more enhanced with natural beauty than any other place on earth’. The pleasure grounds at Holker cover 25 acres of formal and woodland gardens, and some majestic water features. Here you will find the Great Holker Lime, some 7.9 metres in girth, spectacular Rhododendrons in spring, and The Labyrinth within a lovely wildflower meadow. And after all that, do try Lord and Lady Cavendish’s Cumbrian specialties at The Courtyard Café. ”

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that I didn’t know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“I've used the programme a few times now on my travels and it does add a good deal of value to a journey so I'm very happy with my purchase.”

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey
