“Many of Beatrix Potters’ famous stories for children were written at Hilltop, a 17th century stone farmhouse Now the most visited literary shrine in the Lake District, Hilltop brought to life characters such as Tom Kitten, Samuel Whiskers, and Jemima Puddleduck. Roses grow round the front door and there is a charming, traditional English cottage garden filled with flowers like honeysuckle, foxgloves, lupins, peonies, and lavender. Summer fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries, and rhubarb also play an important role in the garden. Late in life (at 47), Beatrix married William Heelis, a solicitor in Hawkshead. She began a new life as a Lakeland sheep farmer. This lasted for 30 years. She kept Hilltop as her studio, and a place to relax. When Beatrix died in 1943, she bequeathed Hilltop to the National Trust, asking that it be kept exactly as she left it, complete with her furniture and china. There is a Beatrix Potter shop at Hilltop and, next door, you will find another familiar building from The Tale of Jemima Puddleduck – the Tower Bank Arms, also owned by The National Trust. It serves lunches and evening meals. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

Linda, New Jersey
