Hadrian's Wall

“A potent symbol of Roman rule, Hadrian’s Wall is the most popular tourist attraction in Northern England. When Emperor Hadrian visited Britain in 122 AD, he ordered a wall made of stone and turf to “separate Romans from Barbarians”. The completed ‘Roman Wall’ – from 13 to16 feet high and stretching across the width of modern-day England - must have seemed a superhuman barrier to the northern Pictish tribes, in what is now Scotland. Many people believe Hadrian’s Wall was built by slaves. However, it was more likely to have been occupational therapy for the Roman legionaries. An army needs exercise to keep fit and busy. The work would also have drawn on the skills of architects, masons, surveyors, and carpenters in the Roman Army’s ranks. Wherever there are soldiers and building programmes going on, there are opportunities to exchange goods and services. Local people also helped to build Hadrian’s Wall, and the economy expanded with it. A must for photographers, Hadrian’s Wall meanders through some of the most beautiful, wild scenery that England has to offer. In 1987, it became a UNESCO world heritage site. The new Hadrian’s Wall Path opened in 2003, and it follows the course of the Roman barrier closely along its entire length. There are forts, mile markers, and double turrets, as well as museums and visitor centres to help you along your way. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
