Dunham Massey

| PLAY AUDIO |
“An early Georgian house built around a Tudor core, Dunham Massey sits within a 250 acre deer park. The hall at Dunham Massey, with the remains of a castle and 45 listed buildings within its grounds, is a popular tourist attraction. Between the years 1906 and 1910, it was altered extensively for the 9th Earl of Stamford. The hall was used as a military hospital during the First World War. The last owner of the house and estate was the 10th Earl, Roger Grey. He never married and after his death, in 1976, Dunham Massey became a National Trust Property. Dunham Massey has been built around two courtyards, one cobbled, and the other centred around a fountain and informal garden. The décor is Edwardian and beautiful walnut furniture from the 18th century along with fine paintings and silver can be found on display. Around one fifth of the original collection of Huguenot silver is shown. This demonstrates all the uses and functions of silver in the 18th century – from chapel plate to chocolate services and egg cups. Interest is not confined to the sumptuous showrooms; the servant’s quarters have been restored to provide a glimpse of life below stairs, and fascinating guided tours reveal a past of romance and scandal. ”

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that
I didn’t
know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK
“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much
that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio
guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey

“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover
the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading
