“The gardens at Groombridge Place were laid out in the 17th century, designed as a series of 'outside rooms’ of the manor house. The only inhabitants, however, are peacocks, which have been here for 300 years. The Knot Garden boasts an eye-catching display of 2000 black, or 'Queen of the Night’, tulips, under-planted with the same number of contrasting bright blue pansies. Pass through a door in the wall by the edge of the moat and you'll find the Secret Garden - a peaceful, shady spot, where pink cherry blossoms overhang azaleas. This was where Philip Packer, who built Groombridge Place, passed away as he read a book in the winter of 1686. Next door, the White Rose Garden features over 20 varieties of white rose, planted to mark 200 years of the Waller family owning the estate. Just across a central path is a real highlight, the Herbaceous Border, planted with a rich collection of English garden perennials, including hollyhocks and clematis. As well as an Oriental garden and a Draughtsman's Lawn, there's also the Drunken Garden. This was a favourite of Sherlock Holmes creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was a regular visitor from his house in Crowborough, four miles away. Running down the middle of these charming gardens is the Apostle Walk, which is bordered on each side by 12 Drum Yew trees. Visitors can also explore the ancient woodland of The Enchanted Forest, which features hidden valleys and pools. ”

“Brilliant information, have used several of the pubs and visited many of the properties. Some that
I didn’t
know were so close to home. Keep up the good work.”
Steve, UK
“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London
“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much
that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester

“The Audio commentary on the Garmin was well narrated and definitely had the feel of the audio
guides you get when you are walking around the landmarks themselves”.
Linda, New Jersey

“The heritage commentary is really informative and entertaining – it’s great to discover
the background to the brown tourist signs we normally whizz by on the motorway.”
Michael, Reading
